BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team dropped an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference home contest Monday against Franciscan, 80-67.
With the result, Pitt-Bradford moves to 2-14 in conference play while Franciscan improves to 7-9 in AMCC action and remains in the conference playoff picture.
"I was very pleased with our first half tonight, even after a slow start offensively," Head Coach Ryan Shay said. "It was good to see Reggie, Desmond and Jeff all shoot well tonight, and Justin had a good game all-around. To start the second half, Franciscan did a good job taking advantage of their size and then found Hickey on the perimeter when we collapsed on the post."
Reggie Rogers and Desmond Brogsdale led the Panthers with 15 points apiece while Jeffrey Fry dropped 11 points. All three players knocked down three three-pointers apiece.
Justin Kusiappouh chipped in 14 points off the bench for the Panthers.
Kusiappouh also led the team with seven boards and six assists.
As a team, Pitt-Bradford made nine three-pointers, the most in a conference game since its made 11 the win against Mount Aloysius on Jan. 5.
Franciscan pulled ahead quick, jumping out to a 15-3 lead at the 13:27 mark.
But Pitt-Bradford went on an 18-6 run and tied the score at 21-21 with three minutes to go in the first half.
Both teams battled hard the rest of the half and Franciscan took a 30-28 lead into the break.
The Barons later dominated the second half, using 66.7 percent shooting effort to score 50 points and secure the win.
Both teams found their shooting stroke in the second half, as the Panthers made seven three-pointers and the Barons knocked down six.
Despite the Barons' strong shooting in the second half, the Panthers shot 50 percent themselves.
The Panther defense forced 19 Franciscan turnovers and Pitt-Bradford turned it over 17 times itself.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will wrap up its regular season at the KOA Arena with two-straight home games, hosting Penn State-Altoona Wednesday and Penn State-Behrend Saturday.
