Panthers Fall At Alfred State In Non-Conference Finale

ALFRED, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team fell at Alfred State, 84-53, Wednesday in its non-conference finale.

"We had a slow start to the game and never found a rhythm offensively," Head Coach Ryan Shay said. "Hopefully we bounce back for tomorrow's conference game."

With the result, Pitt-Bradford moves to 3-17 overall and Alfred State improves to 12-10.

Dylan Mitchell and Jeffrey Fry scored 12 points apiece to lead Pitt-Bradford.

Fry went 4-9 from long range, tying the Panthers' season high for three-pointers made.

Desmond Brogsdale chipped in 11 points to aid the Pitt-Bradford scoring effort.

As a team, Pitt-Bradford made 10 three-pointers, one shy of tying the team's season high.

Alfred State led wire-to-wire, shooting 51.7 percent with 15 buckets in the first half to jump out to a 40-20 advantage at the break.

Pitt-Bradford found more offensive success in the second half as it connected on 41.4 percent of its shots and knocked down six three-pointers.

But Alfred State continued its strong shooting through the final whistle and eventually closed out the 84-53 win.

Alfred State turned the ball over 16 times and Pitt-Bradford turned it over 17 times. 

Playing a team-best 32 minutes, Reggie Rogers dished a game-high nine assists.

Mitchell and Jacob Sutton led the Panthers with four rebounds each.

Pitt-Bradford will have a quick turnaround as it will host Hilbert Thursday in the KOA Arena for an 8 p.m. tip. The game will be the second part of a doubleheader with the women's game coming before at 6 p.m.
