Pitt-Bradford Travels To Penn State-Behrend For AMCC Road Test

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team is set to head to Penn State-Behrend for its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road game Saturday.

Pitt-Bradford (1-3) is coming off a 79-60 defeat against Medaille in its AMCC opener Wednesday at the KOA Arena.

Reggie Rogers led all scorers with 20 points, while Desmond Brogsdale dropped 10 points, dished five assists and collected six boards.

Zach Reigel chipped in eight points on 4-5 shooting for the Panthers.

Mid-way through the second half, Pitt-Bradford pulled to within two points, but Medaille held off the Panthers and never surrendered the lead.

On the season, Rogers is the AMCC's fourth-leading scorer with 16.8 points per game. He's scored in double-figures in all games so far this season and has dropped 20 or more points in the last two games.

The two top scoring defenses in the conference will face off Saturday, as Penn State-Behrend allows 67.3 points per game to opponents and the Panthers surrender 68.8 points per game (76th nationally). Both teams are the only members of the AMCC that hold teams to under 70 points per game.

A reason for Pitt-Bradford's defensive success is its 9.8 steals per game, the second-best average in the conference and 50th nationally. The Panthers' 17.5 turnovers forced per game is second in the AMCC and 95th in NCAA Division III.

Offensively for Penn State-Behrend, Andy Niland (14.5 ppg) and Mike Fischer (14.3 ppg) lead the team in scoring. The Lions own the 24th-best field goal percentage in NCAA Division III, shooting 51 percent from the floor. They are also third nationally with an 81.4 percentage from the free-throw line.

Saturday's game is set for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
