OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, 82-63, over Clarks Summit in the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic at Stevenson College.
"I'm really proud of the way the guys bounced back today after the hard-fought loss last night," said Head Coach Ryan Shay, who coached his way to his first career win as a head coach. "Their energy and focus were great. Reggie had a great first half and the whole team rebounded the ball well."
With the victory, Pitt-Bradford moves to 1-2 so far this season.
The Panthers also take third place in the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic with Saturday's victory.
Reggie Rogers led the way with 22 points while grabbing six boards.
Jeffrey Fry added 15 points while Desmond Brogsdale dropped 14 points.
Pitt-Bradford pulled away late in the first half and eventually took a 35-32 lead into the half, guided by Rogers' 15 points in the opening half.
The Panthers kept the momentum rolling into the second half, continuing to build on their lead.
At the 11:28 mark, with Clarks Summit showing signs of momentum, Fry knocked down a three-pointer and was fouled on the play. The rare four-point play extended the Panthers' lead to 57-39.
But, Clarks Summit mounted a bit of a comeback, pulling to within single-digits late in the half.
The Panthers took care of business, though, and rebuilt its lead to hold off Clarks Summit and secure their first win of the season.
Pitt-Bradford's defense was relentless, forcing 24 Clarks Summit turnovers. Rogers, Brogsdale, Oumar Sanogo and George Alston each recorded three steals.
Zach Reigel matched Rogers' rebounding total of six to help lead the Panthers' efforts on the boards, which Pitt-Bradford won, 37-29.
Pitt-Bradford knocked down seven three-pointers, led by three apiece from Rogers and Fry. Reigel also connected from long range.
For his performance during the weekend's action, Rogers was named to the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic All-Tournament Team.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will take a break from competition until after the holiday before returning home to face Medaille for their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Wednesday, Nov. 28.
