PITTSBURGH – The La Roche Redhawks used a strong second half to drive past the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team, 103-65, Saturday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.

"We were outmatched today especially, in the second half," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. "We left shooters open all over the court. I need to do a better job of switching defenses and finding lineups that are clicking at the same time."

Christian Kelly-Perkins led the Panthers with 23 points.

Desmond Brogsdale scored 11 and grabbed nine rebounds while Dylan Niedermeyer chipped in 10 points.

The two teams remained close in the early minutes of the first half, holding a 12-12 tie at the 14:35 mark. 

La Roche opened up its largest lead of the first half with four minutes to go, 36-36, but a layup from Reggie Rogers and a pair of free throws from Kelly-Perkins cut the lead down to single digits.

Two more free throws from Rogers and Brogsdale before the half rounded out the scoring for the Panthers, and La Roche took a single-digit lead of nine points, 43-34, into halftime.

Kelly-Perkins took on much of the scoring in the first half with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers.

The Panthers shot 40 percent (12-30) in the first half and made eight free throws.

The Redhawks stormed out of the gate in the second half, beginning the period on a 16-3 run that put the game out of reach for the Panthers. 

La Roche eventually outscored the Panthers 60-31 in the second half to take the 103-65 victory. Clicking for the Redhawks in the second was the long ball, as La Roche made nine three-pointers in the second half (9-15, 60 percent). 

Kelly-Perkins once again put up double-figure points in the second half with 11.

The Panthers went 12-15 at the free-throw line in the second half, led by a perfect 4-4 performance from Niedermeyer. Pitt-Bradford held La Roche to just six free-throw attempts in the closing half. 

Pitt-Bradford knocked down three three-pointers in the half, two from Kelly-Perkins and one from Rogers.

In total, Rogers led the way with four assists.

Kelly-Perkins and Brogsdale grabbed two steals apiece.

Each team turned the ball over 14 times.

Up next, the Panthers will return home and put conference play on hold as Alfred State comes to the KOA Arena Wednesday.
