ERIE, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team came up short at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference first-place Penn State-Behrend Saturday, 74-49.
"We got out-played, out-worked and out-coached in the game today," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. "There is nothing good I can say about this game. We got out-classed by the best team in our league. The best thing is we have a quick turn-around. Our Monday game away gives a a good opportunity to get this bad taste out of our mouth."
Desmond Brogsdale had his best shooting game of the season, going 8-9 from the field for a team-best 17 points.
Colby Mills knocked down a pair of three-pointers and scored eight total points. Dylan Niedermeyer also scored eight points on three field goals and a pair of free throws.
Brogsdale took on the majority of the scoring for the Panthers in the first half, going a perfect 7-7 from the field including a three-pointer for 15 points.
Mills connected on both of his three-point attempts to help the Panthers to 52% shooting in the half.
However, 11 first-half turnovers and a 0-2 mark from the free-throw line for Pitt-Bradford sent the two teams into halftime with Behrend ahead, 43-29.
The Penn State-Behrend defense held the Panthers in check during the second half. Dylan Mitchell connected on the most field goals during the half with a pair.
Christian Kelly-Perkins and Niedermeyer each had four points in the half.
Pitt-Bradford forced seven turnovers in the second half and grabbed four steals.
The two teams were equal on the glass, each grabbing 28 rebounds. Brogsdale and Sahlil Harris each grabbed five boards.
For the whole game, the Panthers had nine offensive rebounds and held Behrend to just three.
Reginald Rogers led the Panthers with three assists and Harris had a pair.
Pitt-Bradford will have a quick turn-around, as the Panthers will travel to D'Youville on Monday, Jan. 8, for an AMCC matchup.
