BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team used the three-pointer to pick up its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win of the season, 82-73, against Mount Aloysius Saturday at the KOA Arena.

"We had a really tough week at practice this week, focusing on defense and ball movement, and I think that really paid off today," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. " It was tough to practice all week around final exam times, but that gave us a chance to see some other guys, and those guys played really well today. Defensively, we are starting to understand the defensive principles, and our guys are getting a lot more physical on the defensive end. It's nice to get that first conference win, and we're going to look to keep it going."

Jeffrey Fry knocked down eight three-pointers, a season-high for the Panthers, to lead all scorers with 25 points.

Malique McCoy scored 15 points and Dylan Niedermeyer chipped in 11 of his own.

As a team, the Panthers made 13 three-pointers, their most in a single game so far this season. That's ties the most for the program since Jan. 4, 2017 against Penn State-Altoona and March 4, 2009 against Washington & Jefferson.

The two teams hung tight in the early minutes of the game, as a three-pointer from Fry brought the score to an even 10-10 at the 14:55 mark.

An 11-2 run highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Fry and one from McCoy to put the Panthers ahead, 21-16, with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half.

Pitt-Bradford maintained the lead and later went up 10 points at the 2:44 mark as Darius Jones laid one in to bring the score to 40-30.

One last three-pointer by Colby Mills with 1:33 left in the first half would last until the break and send the two teams to the locker rooms with a 43-33 Panthers advantage.

Niedermeyer opened up the scoring for the Panthers in the second half with a layup on the Panthers' first possession.

A layup from McCoy at the 15:28 mark gave the Panthers a commanding 51-39 lead but Mount Aloysius climbed back to pull within five with a 9-2 run to bring the score to 53-48 at the 11:01 mark.

McCoy ended the run, though, with a three-pointer to put Pitt-Bradford back up eight.

Fry knocked down a three-pointer at the 7:33 mark to put the Panthers back up 10 points, but the Mounties climbed back and pulled within five at the 3:58 mark, 69-64.

Then, Niedermeyer hit a three-pointer to put the Panthers up eight points and the Fry hit a three-ball to bring the score to 75-66 at the 2:33 mark.

Free throws from Dylan Mitchell, Reginald Rogers and Fry down the stretch helped hold the Mounties off and the Panthers held on, 82-73.

Pitt-Bradford out-rebounded the Mounties, 34-33. Niedermeyer led the way with eight boards and Mitchell was close behind with seven.

Rodgers, the top distributor on the team so far this year, put together his best game of the season passing the ball so far this season with eight assists.

Pitt-Bradford will have a quick turnaround and travel to Juniata for a non-conference matchup Monday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
