BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team fell to La Roche, 84-67, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game Saturday at the KOA Arena.

"Although our defense has improved, that was a very good La Roche team that has been together for three years," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. "They have a ton of experience and an unbelievable amount of trust in the coaching staff and each other. Today we saw some really good thing with freshman Darius Jones coming off the bench and settling us down. We also saw some things from our post players that we wanted to see, which is also encouraging. Overall, a step in the right direction but we are not in it for moral victories. We want to win now, so we got to get better and we will."

Desmond Brogsdale led the Panthers with 23 points while Dylan Mitchell scored 11. Dylan Niedermeyer also scored in double-figures with 10 points.

Points came at a premium early on as a layup from Mitchell 45 seconds into the game held strong until the 17:05 mark.

The two teams traded the lead in the first half until La Roche responded to a Colby Mills three-pointer at the 3:54 mark with a 12-0 run and took a 42-27 lead into the break.

Brogsdale led the way for the Panthers with eight points in the first half while Niedermeyer scored six. La Roche shot 51.5 percent from the field in the first half and made six three-pointers while the Panthers shot a 44.4 percentage with three makes from long range.

The Panthers hung with the Redhawks in the second half but ultimately did not cut into the halftime deficit.

Brogsdale took on most of the scoring in the second half with 15 points. Reginald Rogers and Mitchell contributed six points apiece.

Jones also provided a spark off the bench, scoring five points in 19 minutes including a pair of assists.

Pitt-Bradford forced 15 La Roche turnovers, collecting eight total steals. Brogsdale and Rogers led the way with three steals apiece.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Wednesday as the Panthers travel to Chatham for a non-conference game.
