Buffalo State cruised past the Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team 90-69 Tuesday night at the KOA Arena.

The visiting Bengals played the role of spoiler on opening night, shooting 54 percent from the field and connecting for nine three-pointers. Pitt-Bradford spent much of the second half trailing by more than 18 points.

Early on it appeared the game was going to be a back and forth affair as the lead exchanged hands seven times in the opening 14 minutes.

Evan Greening's jumper with 7:36 left in the first half capped an 8-0 Panther run that pushed Pitt-Bradford ahead 24-20. Zach Ciezki responded on the other end, hitting a three-pointer, and two plays later, Buffalo State went ahead 25-24 on Mike Henry's layup.

The Panthers quickly regained the advantage on a Greening bucket, but the Bengals would go ahead for good on Ciezki's layup seconds later. That basket would launch an 18-6 closing run to the first half by the Bengals, and they led 43-32 at the break.

Any chance at a second half comeback was quickly squashed as Buffalo State scored the first five points of the frame. The Bengals continued to pad their margin, leading by as much as 23 before the final horn sounded.

Pitt-Bradford struggled to generate any offense outside of Greening. The Panthers connected on just 44 percent of their attempts and were 2-13 from long-range. Buffalo State outrebounded Pitt-Bradford by 10 and registered 21 second-chance points.

Greening finished with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds yet was limited to just two points in the second half. Manny Welch, Christian Kelly-Perkins, and Dylan Niedermeyer each finished with eight points apiece. Fateem Brockington collected a game-high seven assists, and two Panthers had a block each.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 0-1 on the season and will play Otterbein in the Geneva College Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff Tournament Friday in Beaver Falls, Pa.
