BUFFALO –N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (8-14, 7-8) men's basketball team got back on track with a crucial 85-75 road victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe, D'Youville College (7-5, 5-11) on Wednesday night. 

Evan Greening had another dominant night, posting 25 points and eight rebounds while Eric Matheson followed with a double-double, adding 25 points and 10 rebounds. Fateem Brockington chipped in with a season-high 13 points and four assists while Manny Welch rounded out the Panthers in double figures with 10 points in the victory.

D'Youville's three leading scorers all came off of the bench with Steve Kunelius leading the Spartans with 17 points while Jeremy VanDuluitgaaden added 16 points and Marcus Clarke finished with 15 points in the loss.

With the victory, the Panthers extended their lead to three games over the Spartans. However, Penn State Altoona knocked off Franciscan to remain just two games behind Pitt-Bradford for the final spot in the AMCC playoffs. Medaille remains in the fifth spot after improving to 8-7 with a victory over Penn State Behrend.

The Panthers shot 56 percent (28-50) from the floor and destroyed the Spartans on the glass, holding a 43-25 advantage in rebounds.

Pitt-Bradford fell to an early nine-point deficit after Marcus Clarke extended the Spartans lead to 19-10 with 13:53 left in the opening half. The Panthers clawed their way back into the game and headed into the locker room down just two points at 42-40 at the half.

The Panther's offense, especially Brockington caught fire in the second half, going on a 15-4 run over the first eight minutes of the half to take a 55-46 lead.

Pitt-Bradford's offense continued to be too much for the Spartans to handle as Jon Haenel, Tim Atkinson, Forrest Works, Matheson, Greening and Brockington all hit key shots on yet another Panther's run extending the lead to 14 with just over five minutes left.

The Spartans hit a couple of shots in the final minutes, but it was too little, too late and the Panthers hung on for the 85-75 victory.

The Panthers continue AMCC play Saturday afternoon as they host LaRoche at 2 p.m. in the KOA Arena.
