ALTOONA, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team (7-14, 6-8) suffered a tough 85-74 loss at Penn State Altoona (6-13, 5-10) on Saturday afternoon.

Manny Welch was the leading scorer, pouring in a season high 22 points to lead three Panthers in double figures. Eric Matheson followed with 21 points and eight assists while Evan Greening rounded out the Pitt-Bradford scorers in double figures with 15 points and nine rebounds, just missing a double-double in the loss.

Javon Wilson led the Lions offense with 22 points while Michael Wigfield and Anton Lucas followed with 13 points each. Quinn Luhr chipped in with 12 points in the victory.

Despite ultimately losing the game, the Panthers led 43-31 at the half.

The second half was a much different story as Penn State Altoona's offense came out roaring in the second half, eventually going on a 29-2 run and taking a 62-51 lead with 9:31 left.

Welch buried two long-range jumpers and Forrest Works added a layup to bring the Panthers within 62-59 with seven minutes left.

However, that was as close as Pitt-Bradford would come as the Lions emerged with the 85-74 victory on their home court.

The Lions shot nearly 60-percent from the field and 55-percent from beyond the arc in the second half to earn the victory.

The Panthers return to action Wednesday night at D'Youville at six.
