Evan Greening has had an outstanding junior season. 

Saturday afternoon was no exception as the junior forward poured in 30 points to go along with 18 rebounds, leading the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team (7-12, 6-6) to an impressive 82-75 victory over Pitt-Greensburg (12-7, 9-3).

"That was a big win for us and I was happy we were able to hold serve at home," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Britt Moore. "We came out very flat, but we were able to bounce back and eventually take the lead at one point in the first half." 

Eric Matheson added 16 points and six rebounds while Sahlil Harris had another impressive game off of the Panther's bench with 13 points and five assists. Manny Welch chipped in with 11 points in the key conference victory.

Jerell Figueroa led a balanced Bobcat offense with 14 points while Marcus Thomas and Rocco Contristano followed with 12 points each. Nick Anderson and Mike Connelly rounded out the Bobcats scoring in double figures with 10 points each. 

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference dubbed Saturday afternoon's showdown the game of the week and it didn't disappoint.

Despite a slow start in the opening minutes by Pitt-Bradford, the two teams played to a 39-39 tie in the opening half. The Panthers trailed by as many as 10 early on, but responded with a run of their own, taking a 27-25 lead on a Greening layup with 7:54 left in the first half. 

The teams traded buckets for the final minutes of the opening half, leading to a 39-39 tie at the half.

The coaching staff decided to make a few changes at the half and they certainly paid off. 

"Our assistant coach Dan Ziegler made a great halftime adjustment that really worked out," Moore said. "They picked up some momentum with about 10 minutes left, but we were able to do a good job finishing."

The score was tied on eight separate occasions in the final 20 minutes. However, the Panthers took the momentum when Harris buried a long-range jumper from the corner, giving the Panthers a 68-67 lead. Steven Owens and Greening added two key buckets to extend the lead to six, and the Bobcats never recovered. 

Matheson knocked down two free throws with 10 seconds left to seal the 82-75 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg.

Pitt-Bradford outrebounded the Bobcats 47-41 while shooting 33.3% (9-27) from beyond the arc in the win.

The Panthers continue AMCC play Wednesday night as they host Hilbert at six in the KOA Arena.
