The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team (6-12, 5-6) couldn't overcome Penn State Behrend's (16-1, 11-1) sharp shooting in the second half, falling 74-58 to the Lions on Wednesday night in the KOA Arena.
Prior the game, Eric Matheson was honored for scoring his 1,000th career point earlier this season at La Roche.
Evan Greening, Colton Holzwarth and Matheson led the Panthers with 12 points each while Sahlil Harris added nine points off the bench. Greening led Pitt-Bradford on the glass with eight boards while Forrest Works added nine rebounds and Holzwarth added a team-high four steals in the loss.
Andy Niland led the Lion's offense with 26 points, including four three point buckets and a 10-12 mark from the charity stripe. Justin Gorny added 11 points while Matt Colpoys and Mike Fisher chipped in with seven points each.
The Lions shot more than 50-percent from the field and more than 40-percent from beyond the arc while holding the Panthers to just 37-percent from the field in the victory.
Pitt-Bradford controlled the tempo in the game's opening minutes, leading by as many as five on two separate occasions.
However, Behrend tied the game at 12-12 when Connor McLaughlin was fouled shooting a three-pointer and nailed all three foul shots.
Greening responded on the other end with a three-point play of his own, but McLaughlin dialed long distance again to tie the game at 15-15.
The teams traded buckets over the next several minutes, leading to a 40-36 Lion's advantage at the half.
Penn State Behrend opened the second half on an 8-2 run and never looked back, completing the 74-58 victory.
The Panthers return to action Saturday afternoon at one against Pitt-Greensburg in the KOA Arena.
