Strong Second Half Propels Medaille Past UPB Men

BUFFALO - The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team (5-11, 4-5) couldn't overcome the Mavericks (6-10, 4-5) strong final 10 minutes, falling 77-66, Monday night at Medaille.

Evan Greening led the Panther's offense with yet another double-double, posting 24 points and 12 rebounds while adding three blocks on the defensive end. Eric Matheson followed with 21 points, four assists and three rebounds while Sahlil Harris added eight points and six boards in the loss.
The Mavericks had five starters score in double digits with Miles Newcomb leading the offense with 18 points and six rebounds. Jonathan Belton followed with 14 points while Mike Hollenbeck chipped in with 12 points and 10 boards. Chris Willingham and Justice Fagan rounded out the Mavericks in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Pitt-Bradford led the charge in the first half, leading by as many as seven at 23-16, following a Greening layup with 7:04 left. 

The Mavericks fought back cutting their deficit to four at the half after Justin Belton knocked down two free throws late in the half.

Medaille's offense slowly picked up steam in the second half, eventually capturing a 41-40 lead on Fagan's three-pointer with 16:06 left. 

The Panthers and Mavericks traded buckets over the next 10 minutes, until Medaille started to pull away as a 9-0 run gave them a 68-59 lead with just 2:32 left.

Medaille knocked down their free throws late in the game to secure the victory.

The Panthers return to action Saturday afternoon at two at Franciscan.
