The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team opened the 2015-16 campaign with an 87-75 victory over Alfred State on Tuesday night.

Eric Matheson and Evan Greening were outstanding for the Panthers, as both had double-double efforts in the victory. Matheson had 25 points and 10 boards while Greening poured in 23 points and a team-high 12 boards. Manny Welch followed with 13 points, Tim Atkinson finished with 12 and Sahlil Harris chipped in with 10 points off of the bench.

"We were glad to get a home win to open the season," said Pitt-Bradford men's basketball coach Britt Moore. "We have a long, long way to go. I was glad to see some players come off the bench and have an impact in the game."

The Panthers shot nearly 50 percent from the floor (28-57) and 43 percent from beyond the arc (9-21). Pitt-Bradford also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Pioneers 50-36.

The Panthers return to action Friday night at Gettysburg for the opening night of the annual Gettysburg Tournament.
