Penn State Behrend swept the Pitt-Bradford baseball team Wednesday by scores of 6-1 and 2-1.

The Lions used a five-run fourth to pull away in game one after the Panthers had rallied to tie the game in the top half of the inning. Starter Ryan Northcott surrendered only one hit the first time through the Penn State Behrend lineup but was touched up for four hits in the decisive frame. He complicated matters by also hitting a batter and walking another.

Northcott rebounded by retiring the last seven batters he faced. He yielded five hits and six runs, four earned, in six innings of work.

Austin Parent accounted for the Panthers only tally, a RBI single, scoring Dalton Renn, who reached base after being hit to lead off the fourth. Parent finished with three of Pitt-Bradford's six hits.

The Panthers' Justin Beimel and Penn State Behrend's Justin Rohrer staged a pitcher's duel in game two.

Beimel's only two mistakes were a RBI sacrifice fly in the third and a run-scoring single in the 8th, the latter which proved to be the difference. Pitt-Bradford outhit the Lions 7-6 but left five men on base and struggled to deliver with runners in scoring position.

Jay Clinger singled with one out in the ninth, but Parent and Kyle Hunt each flew out to end the game.

Samuel Dreistadt opened the scoring with a RBI single in the second inning, and Renn and Clinger had two hits apiece. Beimel walked two and did not strike out a batter over eight solid innings.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 8-16 on the season and 3-3 in the AMCC. The Panthers travel to face conference-leader La Roche Saturday in Pittsburgh. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
