The Pitt-Bradford baseball team blasted a total of five home runs in its season opener, including two by Tim Brown, to roll Juniata 22-8 in New Market, Virginia.

The Panthers pounded out 23 hits and wasted little time getting on the board. Jay Clinger opened the scoring with a RBI single in the top half of the second, and after Juniata hit the next two batters to load the bases, Brody Wood connected for a grand slam to left field.

Dalton Renn homered in the third inning, stretching the lead to 6-0, and Brown hit a three-run shot in the fifth to blow the game wide open.

Clinger, who finished the day 4-6 at plate, followed with a two-run home run in the sixth, and Brown added a two-run blast in the ninth inning for good measure.

Eight different Panthers collected a hit, led by Brown, who went 4-4 with five total RBIs. Wood logged three hits and five RBIs, and Renn drove in three runs while going 4-7.

Starting pitcher Ryan Northcott surrendered five runs in four innings while striking out five, and Alex Andrzejewski earned the win, tossing five innings of relief, yielding a pair of earned runs. He walked three and struck out four in first career appearance.

Pitt-Bradford returns to action Sunday with a doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace. First pitch is slated for noon.
