WOOSTER, Ohio -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team split its two matches during the first day of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic at Wooster College Friday evening.

Both matches went to four sets, with Pitt-Bradford first falling to Westminster in the opener before defeating Bethany in the nightcap. 

"We had a pretty good day against two very good programs," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "We were in a good spot against Westminster but let it slip away in that third set. But we showed up against Bethany and played extremely well. I don't think it would have mattered who we played during the second game, I don't think anyone in the country could've stopped Riley Anderson. She was hitting the ball like I haven't seen before. Her and Laura Hildebrand were both on top of their games against some really great teams tonight."

Pitt-Bradford is now an even 6-6 on the season.

The Panthers picked up a victory in the first set of the day, 25-23, against Westminster. 

Up 22-17, Pitt-Bradford held off a late Titans rally as Riley Anderson knocked home a kill to maintain the lead.

Westminster tied up the match with a convincing set two win, 25-15.

In set three, the Panthers put together their best set hitting, recording a .414 hitting percentage of 13 kills and on 29 swings. 

The two teams hung close for the set and eventually locked at 23-23. But, two straight points from the Titans gave them a 2-1 set advantage.

Set four belonged to Westminster, as they completed the match victory, 25-17. 

The victory elevated Westminster's overall record to 9-1 on the season.

Anderson recorded a game-high 14 kills while Emily Cleveland contributed 10 kills. Payton Orzech assisted 36 of the Panthers' kills.

Laura Hildebrand led the team with 15 digs and Alexandra Segura led the team with five blocks assisted.

The Panthers upped their game in the second match of the day against Bethany.

Bethany narrowly took the first set, 25-22, but the Panthers responded in a big way.

They hit at a .304 percentage in the second set to win, 25-19.

The third set was tight as it took the Panthers 29 points to win, but they got it done 29-27.

Then the Panthers took care of business in set four, 25-21, hitting their best percentage of the match at .355.

Anderson once again led the way with 20 kills and Cleveland was close behind with 18.

Orzech assisted 40 of the team's kills.

Hildebrand put together a strong defensive game with 38 digs and Alayna Seggi had 20.

At the net, Katie Treat assisted six blocks.

Pitt-Bradford will open Saturday's action at 1 p.m. against Oberlin before closing out the event facing the host Wooster at 3 p.m.
