Panthers Look To Continue Winning Ways As Houghton Comes To Town Tuesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team will host Houghton Tuesday for its second home match of the season.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a strong week in which it went 4-1 in its five matches. The Panthers first defeated Allegheny Tuesday in straight sets before heading to the Misericordia Tournament.

After falling to Moravian in the first match of the event, Pitt-Bradford won its final three matches to finish the event 3-1.

For their performances during the weekend, Emily Cleveland and Riley Anderson were named to the Misericordia All-Tournament Team.

Cleveland's week was so stellar that she also earned the AMCC's Player of the Week honor. The sophomore worked a .353 hitting percentage with 50 kills on 102 total attempts and just 14 errors. She earned 3.85 kills per set, highlighted by a 17-kill, 5.67 per set performance against St. Elizabeth Saturday.

Anderson and Cleveland are two of the top hitters in the AMCC. Cleveland's 3.39 kills per set and 95 total kills rank second in the AMCC, while Anderson's 2.71 kills per set and 76 total kills are third-best in the conference.

Cleveland also leads the conference with a .322 hitting percentage.

Katie Treat remains one of the top blockers in the conference, tying for the lead with 0.80 blocks per set.

The anchor of the Panther defense Laura Hildebrand's 138 digs are third-most in the AMCC. Anderson's 90 kills are the fifth most.

Pitt-Bradford's setter Payton Orzech is the AMCC's leader with 8.58 assists per set.

As a team, the Panthers rank first in the AMCC in kills (346), hitting percentage (.212), assists (320), digs (558), digs per set (16.91), solo blocks (21), blocks (56) and points (473.5).

Houghton comes to the KOA Arena with a 1-6 mark so far this season. The Highlanders' lone victory came against AMCC rival Hilbert on Sept. 5.

Tuesday's contest is set for 7 p.m.
