BRADFORD, Pa. -- As the clocked ticked down in the closing minutes of regulation, Meghan Stuck lined up a free kick from just outside the box on the right side of a wet, slippery Kessel Athletic Complex.

With the game on the line, she buried it, just inside the left post to knot the score at 1-1 with 1:43 remaining in regulation.

The tie would eventually hold, as two overtime periods would not be enough and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (1-7-1, 0-1-1) and D'Youville (1-7-1, 1-0-1) worked a 1-1 draw in the Panthers' Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference home opener Tuesday afternoon.

"Meghan's free kick was exactly what we needed," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "It was good to see us come back and tie it up. We had a lot of chances and I felt as though we dominated a good amount of the game, which was great to see. We're looking forward to finding the back of the net now Saturday at Penn State-Altoona."

Pitt-Bradford doubled D'Youville's shots and then some, firing 24 times to the Spartans' 11. The Panthers also put 15 attempts on goal.

But the Spartans struck first, taking a through ball past the Panther defense and finishing in the middle of the field 13 minutes into the contest.

Despite holding a 9-6 shot advantage in the half, Pitt-Bradford was unable to tie the game and D'Youville took the 1-0 lead into the half.

Pitt-Bradford came out gunning in the second half, outshooting D'Youville 11-3.

In the 88th minute, a Spartan hand ball just outside the box allowed for one more solid scoring chance for the Panthers.

Stuck delivered, and the Panthers managed to hold off the Spartans for the remaining minute to send the game into overtime.

D'Youville shot twice on goal and Stuck sent an attempt wide, and the two teams went into a second OT period.

A minute into the period, Courtney Shade fired on goal and the rebound went to Jade Adams, who fired but had her shot saved as well.

Later on, Jade Adams fired a ball that looked to be destined for the back of the net toward the left post, but the Spartan keeper made a fully extended save and corralled it with both hands.

A Pitt-Bradford foul in the closing seconds allowed for a final D'Youville set piece, but the ball was harmlessly cleared by the Panther defense and the two teams took the 1-1 draw.

Of the Panthers' 15 shots on goal, Stuck, Shade and Kahlee Bowen fired three apiece. Jasmine Adams and Jade Adams each sent a pair of shots on goal, while Grace Dadzaa and Meghan Thomas forced the D'Youville keeper to make one stop apiece.

Emily Bethel played all 110 minutes on goal, making seven saves en route to being credited with the first draw of her career.

Up next, the Panthers will resume AMCC action and head to Penn State-Altoona Saturday.
