Wrestling to host Penn State-Behrend in Final Home Match of Season

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team will host Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday night in their last scheduled home match of the season.

The Panthers enter the match coming off of their second dual match win of the season. At the Brockport Duals, the Panthers were able to win their match with Alfred State via tiebreaker. Overall the match finished tied 24-24, however, the Panther points came via wins in matches wrestled, while the Pioneers earned their points via uncontested forfeits. The Panthers won all 6 contested bouts in the match. Nate Powley and Derek Ridgeway each picked up full points by pinning their opponent. Freshman Jason Reyes won his first contested bout in tight fashion, earning a 15-14 victory by decision.

The Panthers have been led this season by Junior Mitchell Dowd. Wrestling in the Heavyweight class, Dowd has compiled a 26-7 record surpassing Same Colebert's program record of 18 wins in a season. Elijah Hernandez and Nate Powley have posted double digit wins on the season as well with Hernandez going 13-10 and Powley posting a record of 12-18. Senior Derek Ridgeway has also been a mainstay for the Panthers this season, posting a record of 9-9.

The Lions enter the match-up wrestling in their first competition since the winter break. In their last action, the Panthers lost to Alfred State 31-13. Sophomore Michael Binni has led the Lions in wins this season, picking up 10 victories at 125.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
