Panthers Pull Out Thrilling Win Over Saint Vincent Wednesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team started the 2019 portion of its schedule on a high note, defeating Saint Vincent Wednesday at Byllye Lanes.

"The girls were relaxed, but very focused tonight," Interim Head Coach Gregg Hoover said. "They made the important shots when needed."

Pitt-Bradford started things off right with a win in the first team scoring round, 796-740.

Mackenzie Bonyak put together the top round for the Panthers with a high score of 192.

But Saint Vincent responded with a 908-646 win in the second team scoring round.

Trisha McElroy was the top performer for the Panthers in the second game with 150 pins.

The two teams then battled in the baker best-of-seven portion. It took all seven games to decide a winner, with the Panthers coming out on top 4-3.

Pitt-Bradford won the first two games (148-106, 136-130), but Saint Vincent put a halt to the Panthers' momentum with wins in the next two, (157-144, 165-145) evening it at two wins apiece.

The Panthers then won game five (174-130), then Saint Vincent extended it with a win in game six (171-135).

But a 149-134 win from Pitt-Bradford in game seven sent the Panthers home with a win.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Tuesday hosting Penn State-Behrend for Senior Day.
