BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team dropped all three matches against Medaille in its home opener at Byllye Lanes Tuesday.

Medaille earned wins in the two traditional scoring formats, 893-805 and 886-711, before capturing the baker best-of-seven format, 4-0.

"Today we bowled against one of the best teams in our conference," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "I'm really proud of the ladies during their first game. As a team, they shot 805 and this means they are capable of shooting this again if they all work together. Shooting an 800 series is good and is where we need to continue to shot if we want to compete with the best schools in our conference."

Trisha McElroy was the team's top performer in traditional scoring with a 370 total pinfall and the Panthers' top game score of 199 during game two.

Mackenzie Bonyak was second with 344 total pins, with a 198 score in game one.

Jenna Lofaro knocked down 298 pins, Kelsey Hammons 289 and Jessica Hamel rolled 215 total pins.

"We still need to work on spares, but that is something that will come with more practice," Foley continued. "The ladies struggled as the match went on, and our scores show it. The ladies are struggling with transitioning on the lanes. The lanes started to burn out and the ladies needed to move left and play lines that they have not had a lot of experience playing before. So this is just another thing that will be added to the list of things to work on for next semester when we get ready for the conference matches."

In baker scoring, Medaille won the four games 165-127, 159-139, 168-123 and 148-126, with a 640-515 total pinfall.

Bonyak led the team with a 17.14 pins per frame baker average. The next highest was Lofaro at 13.25, followed by Hammons at 13.14. Hamel averaged 11.75, and McElroy rounded out the Panther performers with an 11.63 baker average.

"During baker, everyone struggled with spares and having good first balls," Foley said. "However, Mackenzie led us with a 17.14 pins per frame average. She only had two opens during our baker set. Going into today, that was one thing she told me she was focused on and she made sure of that to the best of her ability during the baker format."

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will compete in the three-day Wildcat DII-DIII Invitational in New Castle, Del., from Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
