Panthers Claim 3-1 Win At Penn State-Behrend Saturday

ERIE, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team captured a 2-1 win at Penn State-Behrend today.

The Panthers earned a win in the first match, lost in the second but came back for a win in the third.

Kelsey Hammons was the top performer for the Panthers today with 566 total pins.

However, Trisha McElroy rolled a 203 in game two, the best game for a Panther so far this season. She finished second overall on the team with 511 total pins.

Bryce Holm knocked 475 pins in the three games while Jenna Lofaro was next with 406.

Jessica Hamel rounded out the Panthers performers with 371 pins.

"Trisha struggled at first but came back with a 203 for her second game," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "The 203 is the highest game so far for us this season during match play. Kelsey was consistent during the three games with an average of 188 and did a great job in a new role as our anchor this evening.

"I was very impressed with Jessica this evening, she shot a 167 for us during the third game to help lead us to take the third game and total pin count overall. Even though she throws a 9lb ball, she can be deadly on the lanes with it.

"Bryce was also consistent today. She wasn't in the scoring range where I know she is capable of, but she was 'robbed' so many times. Most of the girls would hit the pocket, but leave something strange or not get the carry that they typically do. Jenna was a trooper today. Jenna has been struggling bad during match play, but even though she had an injury and fell her 9th frame of her last game, she stuck with it and was able to finish out the 10th frame of the last game."

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will have a quick turnaround, heading to Penn State-Altoona Sunday morning for a 9:30 start.
