Panthers Complete Day One Of Medaille Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team opened up its 2018-19 season Saturday, competing in the first day of the two-day Medaille Invitational.

"The girls struggled with their spares today, so that will be one thing we will be working on during our practice sessions this upcoming week," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "As the day went on, the girls struggled with hitting the pocket. They tried their best and some played out of their comfort zones to get the best pin action. I'm hoping after a well rested evening, the girls can get their energy back and give it their all tomorrow."

On the day, the Panthers went 1-3, falling to Roberts Wesleyan (891-782), facing Villa Maria in a bye, defeating Penn State-Behrend (774-743), falling to Daemen (920-751) and finishing up the day with a loss to the host Medaille (832-692).

Kelsey Hammons led the way with an 840 series for the day.

"She had a lot of bad breaks," Foley continued. "Especially when she threw a pocket 7-10 split. The ball angle was just enough to get a weird mix and leave those two pins standing."

Mackenzie Bonyak was next with 803, and Trisha McElroy bowled a 757 series.

Jenna Lofaro rolled a 691 while Bryce Holm rounded out the scorers with a 660.

Sunday's action will be scored with total pinfall for baker.
