Panthers To Open 2018-19 Season At Medaille Invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team is set to open its 2018-19 season competing in the Medaille Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

The Panthers are guided by second-year Head Coach Sarah Foley, who as a student-athlete led the Pitt-Bradford women's bowling team to back-to-back conference titles in 2014 and 2015.

Last season, Pitt-Bradford finished third at the AMCC Championships.

Returning for the Panthers is senior Bryce Holm, junior Jenna Lofaro and sophomore Kelsey Hammons.

At the conference championships, Hammons led the team with a 17.83 pins average, while Holm averaged 15.69 pins. Lofaro bowled an average of 14.03 pins.

Leading the way for the Panthers this season is Hammons, who led the Panthers with a 17.35 baker average and was also the team's top performer in team format with a 173.71 average her freshman year. She recorded each of the top-four highest individual game scores on the team: 237 vs. Penn State-Behrend (Feb. 13), 224 vs. Saint Vincent (Feb. 6), 211 vs. Medaille (Jan. 27), 210 vs. New Jersey City (Feb. 4).

Pitt-Bradford also welcomes a pair of newcomers this season with freshman Mackenzie Bonyak (Horseheads, N.Y.) and junior Trisha McElroy (Hancock, N.Y.).

The 2018-19 season features 12 different events spanning over six months, concluding with the AMCC Championships on March 23. New to the AMCC this season is all teams will be competing for an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament to be awarded to the conference champion.
