BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team is set to compete in the 2018 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship Saturday hosted by Medaille at Classic Lanes in Kenmore, N.Y.
The day's action is set to begin with introductions at 9 a.m. with the first matches beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a double-elimination format.
The winners and the losers will then meet in the second match set to begin at 11:15 a.m., the victor of the matchup between the two winners advancing to the championship match.
The winner of the matchup between the two losing teams will then take on the loser of the original winning matchup, with that victor heading to the finals.
The original winner will earn the championship with a win in the final match, but if it loses, the two teams will play another match to decide the conference champion, as each team must lose twice to be eliminated.
An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the action, which will take place around 4:30 p.m. or 6:15 p.m., depending on how many matches are necessary to determine the champion.
Pitt-Bradford enters the tournament as the No. 3 ranked team of the four competing in the conference championship. The Panthers will take on No. 2 Medaille in the first round. Mount Aloysius has earned the No. 1 overall seed while New Jersey City will compete in the No. 4 position.
The Panthers earned a record of 10-4 against AMCC opponents this season.
Pitt-Bradford is led by Kelsey Hammons, who posed a 173.71 average in team format. Haley Ward has been just as solid, averaging 172.84 pins in the format.
As a team, the Panthers average 762.39 pins in the team format.
In the last AMCC Round Robin, Hammons was the team's top performer, averaging 179.2 pins. Ward was close behind with 176 average pins per game.
Bryce Holm was third on the team with a 164 average while Jenna Lofaro was next at 155.2 pins. Abbey Kalin rounded out the Panther performers with a 127.2 average.
