No. 3 Panthers Down No. 6 Mounties 78-42, Advance To AMCC Semifinals

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team pulled off a statement 78-42 win in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference First Round against No. 6 Mount Aloysius Wednesday at the KOA Arena.

With the win, No. 3 Pitt-Bradford advances to the conference semifinals where it will face No. 2 Hilbert at La Roche.

"I was proud of our teamwork today," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "We played a full 40 minutes of disciplined and focused basketball. We have fought to get to this point and right now, I couldn't be more proud of their effort."

Earlier this season, Mount Aloysius defeated the Panthers in both matchups and a season ago, the Panthers were knocked out of the AMCC tournament in the semifinals at the hands of the Mounties in a double-overtime heartbreaker.

Etreece Adams led all scorers with a career-high 21 points.

Jennifer Isenberg poured in 17 points, while Shaelyn Snipes dropped 14 points.

To round out the five Panthers scoring in double-figures, Shirleah Ragin scored 12 points and Latifah Cain dropped 10 points.

Cain came just an assist shy of a triple-double as she collected 11 boards and dished nine assists.

The Panther defense forced an off shooting night from the Mounties, who went 14-54 from the floor for 25.9 percent and 3-21 from deep for 14.3 percent.

The Panthers owned the glass as well, outrebounding the Mounties 53-22. Jenna Hicks collected nine boards to aid the Panther rebounding effort.

Pitt-Bradford led right from the jump – literally – as Isenberg won the tip, Cain collected it and threw it over to Snipes, who knocked down a three-pointer from the left wing just five seconds into the contest.

From there, Pitt-Bradford held Mount to just a pair of makes in the opening quarter and made eight of their own highlighted by a trio of three-pointers from Snipes to open up a 20-7 advantage heading into the second.

It was much of the same in the second, as the Panthers outscored the Mounties 20-10 in the quarter and took a hefty 40-17 lead into the half.

Struggles continued for the Mounties in the third, as they once again made just a pair of field goals and allowed 18 Panther points.

Adams went 4-4 for nine points in the third quarter and led Pitt-Bradford to a commanding 58-23 advantage heading into the final quarter.

19 points from the Mounties and 20 from the Panthers secured the 78-42 victory for Pitt-Bradford.

Mount Aloysius finishes the season 8-18 overall after earning an 8-10 AMCC record to qualify for the conference playoffs.

Pitt-Bradford takes an even 12-12 overall mark and its 10 AMCC regular-season wins to La Roche to face a Hilbert team that came out on top in both meetings and owns a conference-best 20-5 overall record.

The Hawks tied with La Roche with a 15-3 conference record but was awarded the second seed due to tiebreaker rules.

Saturday's semifinal game at top-seeded La Roche is set for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
