BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team suffered an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference setback to La Roche Saturday at the KOA Arena, 72-55.

With the decision, both teams remain toward the top in the conference as Pitt-Bradford moves to 6-6 in conference play for fourth place in the standings and La Roche remains second in the conference as it improves 11-3 in AMCC action.

Latifah Cain once again led the Panthers in scoring with 16 points. She also came just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.

Jasmin Miller was next with 12 points while Shaelyn Snipes and Shirleah Ragin scored nine points apiece.

Pitt-Bradford came out strong and dominated the first quarter, shooting 50 percent on 8-16 attempts and holding La Roche to just three buckets. The Panthers came away with a 17-8 lead after the first quarter.

But La Roche found its form in the second quarter and poured in nine buckets, including a pair of three-pointers, and scored 27 points in the period to take a 35-28 advantage into the break.

Miller and Ragin did all the scoring for the Panthers in the second quarter as Miller scored six points and Ragin dropped the remaining five, three of which coming on a deep three-pointer.

Both offenses were clicking in the third quarter but the Panthers would be unable to cut into La Roche's lead as the Redhawks outscored the Panthers 19-17 in the third.

Then the Redhawks secured the win in the fourth quarter, holding Pitt-Bradford to 10 points while scoring 18 of their own to take the 72-55 victory.

The Panthers owned the advantage on the boards as they outrebounded La Roche 38-28.

Pitt-Bradford collected 15 offensive boards and turned them into nine second-chance points.

The Panthers turned the ball over 24 times and forced 16 La Roche turnovers.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will have a quick turnaround as it heads to D'Youville for an AMCC contest Monday. The Panthers return home Thursday for the make-up game against Hilbert.
