BRADFORD, Pa. -- After dropping the first game, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team used a strong offensive output in game two to earn a split in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Mount Aloysius at the Kessel Athletic Complex Saturday.

"A good split for us today," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "Very proud of the team and how they responded from a tough day yesterday and first game today. They showed a good approach today and were patient and swung at good pitches at the plate. Our defense was solid today and the double plays were clutch. The first game simply was one pitch. We hit some solid balls and their defense had to make some plays. Jordan settled in and pitched well enough to win. In the second game, getting six runs in the second seemed to relax us. Kerrigan pitched well, bend but not break as the defense got us out of some tough spots."

Pitt-Bradford was held to just one hit in game one, but bounced back for 12 hits and as many runs to earn the win via the eight-run rule in the six-inning second game.

Betty Fratercangelo knocked a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth that put the Panthers ahead, 12-4, and secure the victory.

Of the Panthers' 12 hits, Madison East led the way with three while Fratercangelo and Grace Dadzaa earned two apiece.

Fratercangelo also drove in four runs.

In the circle, Kerrigan Hoffmann picked up the win in game two while Jordan Uhing threw all seven innings while giving up just the two earned runs in the first inning and striking out five.

The Panthers' victory in game two was the first defeat in conference play of the season for the Mounties.

Pitt-Bradford is now 10-12 on the season and 2-4 in AMCC contests.

Game One: Mount Aloysius 2, Pitt-Bradford 0

The Mounties got all the offense they'd need in the top of the first on a two-run home run.

Maddy Hillery worked the lone Panther hit of the contest in the second, grounding a hard ball up the middle that was fielded by the second baseman but did not draw a throw.

The two teams went down in order in the third and fourth.

The Mounties worked the bases loaded in the fourth but Uhing and the Panther defense left the bases loaded with consecutive popouts and groundouts.

Later in the seventh, the Panthers were down to their final out looking to extend the game.

Liz Dzurisin lined a ball to the Mounties left fielder, who misplayed the liner and brought the tying run to the plate.

However, Mount Aloysius worked a fly out and secured the win.

Game Two (6 Innings): Pitt-Bradford 12, Mount Aloysius 4

Mount Aloysius took an early 2-0 lead, working two runs in the top of the second.

But Pitt-Bradford wasted no time in getting those runs back -- and then some -- in the bottom half of the frame.

Two walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases, then two more walks brought home Jessica Milliron and Kendra Colegrove to tie the game. 

East singled home Natalie Harding, then Hillery sent home Jenna Fellows and Fratercangelo with a single to right.

East later scored on a Melissa Nye groundout to round out the six-run inning.

The Mounties got two back in the fourth on an RBI single and double.

In the fifth, Fratercangelo singled home Dadzaa to put the Panthers ahead, 7-4.

The Panthers completed the victory with five runs in the sixth.

With East aboard, Dzurisin hit a long fly ball to deep left field for a double, bringing her home.

Nye then singled home Karissa Cratty and then scored on a single from Chandler White.

With the bases loaded, Fratercangelo lined a single up the middle that scored Kendra Colegrove from third and Dadzaa from second to put the Panthers ahead, 12-4, and give them the victory.

Throughout the game, the Panther defense used two double plays to escape tough situations.

Up next, the Panthers will take on Medaille Tuesday for a road doubleheader.
