Panthers Head To Alfred For First November Meet Friday

BRADFORD, Pa. – After a week off from competition, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams will head to Alfred Friday for their first road action of the season.

The Panthers men's team has captured wins in its first two dual meets, first defeating Cabrini on Oct. 21 before coming out on top over Penn State-Altoona on Oct. 28. 

For the Panthers women's team, Pitt-Bradford got its season started on the right foot as it picked up a victory joining the men's team for the season-opening, mixed gender Panther Relays event on Oct. 14.

The men's win over Penn State-Altoona was highlighted by the 200-medley relay pool record going down for the second-straight week.

The team of Jared SchwabNoah FrederickNicholas Boyd and Benjamin Koss timed in at 1:40.24, breaking the record set by the team of Corey Koss, Frederick, Lucas Cerchiaro and Benjamin Koss (1:40.33)  the Saturday prior against Cabrini.

Pitt-Bradford's next men's win came in the 1,000-freestyle as Carey Behm (11:09.96) and Boyd (11:13.99) took the top-two spots.

In the women's 200-freestyle, Beyleigh Duda took second place with a time of 2:33.19.

Benjamin Koss took the men's 200-freestyle with a time of 1:49.89.

The first victory of the day for the Panthers women's team came in the 50-freestyle as Kayla Broad timed in at 27.62. 

Corey Koss then came away victorious in the men's 50-freestyle with a time of 23.62. 

In the men's 200-IM, Lucas Cerchiaro (2:05.19) and Noah Frederick (2:12.63) earned the top-two spots in the event.

Cerchiaro (55.44) and Boyd (58.57) then occupied the top-two spots in the men's 100-butterfly.

Broad then won her second event of the day with a 1:00.79 finish in the women's 100-freestyle.

Schwab (48.92) and Devyn Condon (55.01) later took the top-two spots in the men's 100-freestyle. 

In the women's 100-backstroke, Brittney Ciorra timed in at 1:22.04 for a second-place finish.

Corey Koss took first in the men's 100-backstroke, besting his competition by nearly nine seconds with a time of 56.54.

Carey Behm grabbed the last men's win of the day, finishing at 5:23.90 in the 500-freestyle. His time was more than 15 seconds better than the second-place finisher.

Jillian Wright earned the final win for the women's team as she finished at 1:20.42 in the 100-breaststroke. 

The Alfred Saxons men's team has competed in a pair of meets so far this season, suffering a loss in their season opener to RIT (Oct. 21) before falling at Nazareth (Oct. 27). The Saxons women's team has three meets under its belt so far this season, falling to RIT, Nazareth and most recently William Smith (Nov. 4).

Friday's meet will begin at 6 p.m.
