Panthers Fall At Mount Aloysius In AMCC Opener

CRESSON, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team started Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Saturday at Mount Aloysius.

The Mounties (7-1-1) defeated the Panthers (1-8), 6-0.

"We played hard," Head Coach Nathan Whitehurst said. "But playing with a man down for 75 minutes it tough."

Mount Aloysius wasted no time in getting on the board, scoring in each the seventh and eighth minutes to go ahead, 2-0.

15 minutes into the contest, the centerpiece of the Panthers' defense, Michael Giopulos, was sent off with a red card.

Mount Aloysius scored on a corner kick to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

The Mounties scored three minutes into the second half, then rounded out the scoring in the 72nd and 75th minutes.

Derrick Brock was back in goal for the Panthers, playing all 90 minutes and making nine saves.

Pitt-Bradford fired six shots, putting four on goal.

Noah Black put a pair of on goal, while Dakotah Graham and Justin Tanner also shot twice on net.

A physical contest, the two teams were whistled for 35 total fouls. Four Mounties were flagged with yellow cards.

Up next, the Panthers will host D'Youville Tuesday for a 4:15 p.m.
