BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team came up short in both contests against Mount Aloysius in the team's home and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Sunday.

The Panthers (7-7, 0-2 AMCC) fell in the series opener 13-3 then mounted a late comeback in game two but lost 8-7.

"Mount played well today," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Give them credit. We played much better game two. Eddy threw the ball well, just had a couple of costly mistakes. When we put it all together we are going to be a tough team to beat."

In game one, an RBI single from Matt Hair in the bottom of the first tied the game at 1-1.

But the Mounties took a commanding lead with five runs in the third, then added three more in the fourth to go up 9-1.

The Panthers got one back in the sixth as Parent scored on a Mountie fielding error, but Mount added four more in the seventh to go up 13-2.

Parent singled home Hoops in the bottom of the seventh for the Panthers final offense of game one.

Andrew Bacha started on the mound for the Panthers and delivered 3.1 innings of work.

Alex Andrzejewski threw 3.1 innings in relief and struck out a pair. Tyler Aires recorded the final out for the Panthers.

Robert Sawicki, Hoops and Parent had a pair of hits apiece for the Panthers. 

Parent, Sawicki and Kevin Rehak doubled for the Panthers.

In game two, Pitt-Bradford jumped out to an early lead as Rehak singled home Hoops in the first, then Tyler Aires and Sawyer Packard came into score in the second to put the Panthers on top 3-0.

But a four-spot from the Mounties in the third highlighted by two runs scoring on an error put Mount Aloysius ahead 4-3.

After a quiet fourth, Parent stepped in in the bottom of the fifth and hammered a solo homer to left, tying the ballgame at 4-4 with his second shot of the season.

Pitt-Bradford took the lead later in the frame as Joshua Zelinski singled home Rehak.

But Mount would regain the lead with three runs in the seventh.

The Panthers got one back in the seventh as Hoops singled home Zelinski, but the Mounties brought one home in the top of the eighth.

Down 8-6 in the ninth, Hoops kept the Panthers alive with a two-out double to left center.

Then down to his last strike, Jake McNabb clubbed a single to left that scored Hoops.

But he would eventually be left stranded and the Mounties would hold onto win.

Logan Edmonds started for the Panthers and delivered 6.2 innings of work while striking out six.

Nate Renick came on and recorded the final 2.1 innings for the Panthers.

Hoops led the way for the Panthers with three hits, two runs a double and an RBI.

Zelinski and Reid Tarnowski had a pair of hits apiece.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will resume AMCC action as it hosts Alfred State at the Kessel Athletics Complex.
