Panthers Sweep Redhawks in Final Match of the Season

Bradford, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team brought its 2022 season to an end on a high note as they swept LaRoche 9-0 on Friday evening.

The Panthers started the match ahead as they received wins by forfeit at two singles and one doubles matchup. They secured the victory in doubles as they easily won the two contested matches. Madilyn Rodgers and Lydia Ehrensberger won their match at the top pairing 8-1, while Avitamarie Demeiri and Emily Snyder shut out their opponents for an 8-0 win at the second grouping.

Despite having the match wrapped up, the Panthers were able to complete the sweep in singles play, winning all four contested singles matches handily. Lauryn Moore and Lydia Ehrensberg made quick work at match4 and 2, with Moore shutting out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Ehrensberger winning 6-1, 6-0. Maddilyn Rodgers and Emily Snyder wrapped up the match with 6-2, 6-2 wins and 1 and 3. Demeiri and Lillian Hawk were awarded wins by forfeit at 5 and 6.

During the match, three players wrapped up their collegiate careers. Avitamarie Demeiri, Emily Snyder and Lauryn Moore have been integral members of the tennis team over a tough four year stretch that was interrupted for a season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. They were recognized by Coach Schenfield, their family and teammates in a ceremony after the competition.

The Panthers finish the season with a 2-8 overall record and a 1-4 record in AMCC play. They finish the regular season in 5th place, one spot out of the postseason championship tournament.
