Pitt-Bradford Tennis Begins Season with Alfred

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford tennis teams will return to action against Alfred University on Tuesday after nearly two years off the court.

The 2021 Pitt-Bradford Women's team has a new look to their squad as it returns just three players from its 2019 team which finished the AMCC season in 5th place and made a trip to the conference's post-season tournament.

The team will look to 2019 All-Conference selection Caroline Hance to lead a young group into action this year. Hance finished the season with an 8-1 individual record at the number 6 position and 9-1 at third doubles with Jessica Jordan. Also returning for the Panthers are Co-Captain's Emily Snyder and Avita Demieri.

"It was tough missing last season, and we have had a lot of roster turnover since our last competition. Our team is resilient and we can't wait to get back on the court," said Head Coach Susan Schendfield. She added, " we have some great chemistry and we have really developed that through practicing different doubles combinations and team roles."

The Men's team saw all of its players graduate since its last competition, leading to a 2021 team that features a roster entirely new to the program.

"Our men's team is very inexperienced, but what they lack in experience, they make up for with hard work and determination," said Schenfield. "There are sure to be some growing pains, but we are looking to continue to improve, and focus on getting better each day."

The Panthers season will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 7th. as both teams will take on Alfred University. The matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on the Tennis Courts at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
