UPB Falls to Franciscan in AMCC Opener

OLEAN, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team fell, 8-1, to Franciscan in their AMCC opener on Saturday afternoon.

Emily Fowkes was the lone winner (6-7, 10-8, 10-8) for the Panthers, capturing a victory at second singles.

"Emily found her forcefulness today and it really gave her the momentum to play her best games in the third tiebreaker," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Susan Schenfield. "It wasn't bad bounces that led to the turnaround, but good decisions and even better hitting."

The Panthers have a quick turnaround as they return to action Sunday afternoon at home against LaRoche.

"As a team we need to relax and play more safely," Schenfield said. "We need to hit further away from the net and the lines and play more cross court patterns, which involve less risk."
