BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Pitt-Bradford women's tennis team defeated the D'Youville Spartans 5-4 in its regular season finale on Friday evening.

Pitt-Bradford (4-7, 4-4) used back-to-back victories in doubles play to bring its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference record for the year to .500.

In doubles, freshmen Alexa Holleran and Alexandra Claherty paired together to compete in the No. 1 flight. The two defeated D'Youville's top doubles pair by a score of 8-4. Senior Shaina Reddinger and junior Emily Fowkes fought their way to an 8-5 victory in the second flight.

Pitt-Bradford did not field a team in the third pairing, giving the victory to D'Youville.

In singles, Holleran fell to Meghan Atallah, 6-2, 6-3. Reddinger faced Courtney Fox in the second game and suffered a 6-3, 7-5 defeat. Claherty, playing in the third flight, got the Panthers back on the winning track with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Hannah Field.

Fowkes put together a strong performance in the fourth game to claim a 6-0, 6-1 win over Krista Cornell. In game five, sophomore Amy Thomas finished with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jordan Davis. The Panthers did not field a player in the sixth flight, yet it was not needed to take the overall win.
