Panthers Finish Season with 7th Place Finish at Allegheny Empire Championships

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team brought their season to a close on Saturday, as they competed on the final day of the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships. The Panthers finished the event in 7th place with a total of 230.50 points.

Emma Slocum started off day 4 as she was able to finish in 14th place in the 1650-yard freestyle. She swam the mile in the first session of the day and posted a time of 20:46.

Bailey Fedak was the next Panther to qualify for finals placement. She had the 16th-best time in qualifying. She was able to cut two seconds off of her time in the finals, and moved up to 14th place with a time of 58.72. Hannah Westover had the 21st-best time in qualifying, earning a spot as the first alternate. She was able to move up a spot and swim in the finals, finishing 20th with a time of 1:10.73.

Isabella Cercone was the final Panther to qualify for finals, as she had the 8th-best time in the first session in the 200-yard breaststroke. Cercone had a tough race in the finals, dropping down two spots to finish in 10th place with a time of 2:42.65.

The season came to a close with the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. The Panthers sponsored two teams in the relay, with both successfully completing the race. The top team of Cercone, Madison Foote, Slocum, and Fedak finished in 7th place with a time of 4:03.40. In heat two, the Pitt-Bradford team of Westover, Willow Sandusky, Brooklyn Bellavia, and Ruby Smith finished in 17th place with a time of 5:00.20.

The Panthers bring their season to a close with their best finish in points and placement at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships. They were also able to pick up two dual meet victories on the season.
