Panthers Drop Home Finale to Penn State-Altoona

Bradford, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swim team hosted Penn State-Altoona on Saturday afternoon in their last home meet of the season. The Panthers could not keep up with the Lions and lost the meet 129-43.

Pitt-Bradford was only able to win one event in the meet, and to little surprise, the win came from Isabella Cercone in the 200-yard breaststroke. Cercone also had a strong showing in the 200-yard individual medley, where she finished third. Her time in the IM was 2:26.75 seconds, less than three seconds behind the winner.

Four other Panthers were able to secure 3rd place points in the meet. Bailey Fedak finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.16), Ruby Smith was third in the 50-yard freestyle (34.78), Hannah Westover took third in the 100-yard freestyle, 1:14.96) and Emma Slocum also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (6:22.92).

Pitt-Bradford was also able to complete both relays. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Smith, Brooklyn Bellavia, Willow Sandusky and Westover finished the race in 2:40.61 for 2nd place points. The freestyle relay team of Slocum, Madison Foote, Fedak and Cercone took third in a tightly contested race, finishing in 1:57.66, four seconds behind the winning team.

Pitt-Bradford falls to 2-6 in dual meets on the season. They will complete their regular season with a road dual meet at Washington & Jefferson next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
