Panthers Win One, Lose One at Alfred State Trimeet

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team picked up a split at the Alfred State tri-meet on Saturday, falling to the hosts, Alfred State, 61-137, while picking up a win over Wells 113-46.

Isabella Cercone had the top finish for the Panthers as she won one event, and also added a second and third-place finish. Her victory came in her signature event, the 100-yard breaststroke. She was able to finish the race in 1:14.41, winning by more than a second. She came in second place in the 50-yard breaststroke. She finished with a time of 33.54 seconds, missing out on first place by just over a second. She finished her day with a third-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley. She swam the race in 1:09.41. 

Madison Foote and Emma Slocum both had a pair of third-place finishes. Foote swam the 50-yard backstroke in 37.28 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 6:51.82. Slocum finished the 100-yard backstroke in 1:17.52 and the 200-yard freestyle in 2:25.16.

The Panthers also took 2nd and 3rd in the two relays. The team of Ruby Smith, Brooklyn Bellavia, Willow Sandusky, and Hannah Westover finished the medley relay in 2:39.42 to finish in 2nd. Slocum, Sandusky, Foote, and Cercone took 3rd in the freestyle relay with a time of 2:04.62.

The Panthers head to the semester break with a 2-4 dual meet record. They will return to action on Saturday, January 13th with a dual meet at Roberts Wesleyan.
