Panthers Wrap Up Blue Devil Invitational

Fredonia, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team wrapped up the three-day Blue Devil Invitational on Sunday, finishing in 6th place with 411 team points.

The third day of competition kicked off with the long-distance 1650-yard freestyle. Emma Slocum swam the mile-long event for the Panthers, finishing in 12th place with a time of 21:19.15.

This was followed by the 200-yard backstroke, where two Panthers qualified for finals and completed the race. Madison Foote took 17th place with a time of 2:48.36, while Hannah Westover was a spot behind her, finishing in 18th with a time of 3:04.45.

Pitt-Braford had just one swimmer qualify for the 100-yard freestyle, as Bailey Fedak finished in 20th place with a time of 1:01.01. Three other Panthers swam in the preliminary rounds. Willow Sandusky had the 29th best time at 1:18.00. Ruby Smith was a spot behind her, swimming the race in 1:21.62 and Brooklyn Bellavia took 31st in 1:25.02.

The Panthers' best finish of the day came in the 200-yard breaststroke. Isabella Cercone finished in 8th place, finishing in 2:44.85.

The weekend came to a close with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the Panthers entered two teams. The top relay of Slocum, Foote, Fedak, and Cercone finished in 12th place, posting a final time of 4:20.00. The second relay of Westover, Bellavia, Smith and Sandusky finished in 15th with a time of 5:16.99.

The Panthers will return to head-to-head action after the holiday break, as they will take on AMCC foes Alfred State and Wells in a tri-meet. The event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd at Alfred State's Orvis Center Pool.
