Women's Swimming in 6th Through 10 Events at Blue Devil Invitational

Fredonia, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team traveled to Fredonia for their first invitational of the season as they began competition at the Blue Devil Invite, hosted by Fredonia and Baldwin Wallace. Through 5 women's events, the Panthers collected 102 points, putting them in 6th place.

Four Panthers qualified for three different events, while the team also had two teams successfully complete the 200-yard freestyle relay. 

Isabella Cercone had the best individual finish of the day for the Panthers. In the 200-yard individual medley, Cercone qualified for the top heat and then finished in 8th. She swam the race in 2:26.87 and collected 22 team points for the Panthers.

Bailey Fedak qualified for the third heat in the finals in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished in 27.36 seconds which put her in 19th place.

Two Panthers qualified for the finals in the 500-yard freestyle. Emma Slocum and Madison Foote qualified for the third heat in the event. Slocum took 19th place with a time of 6:15.07, while Foote finished in 21st with a time of 6:36.29.

Pitt-Bradford submitted two teams for the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Panthers' top team of Slocum, Foote, Fedak, and Cercone took 11th place with a time of 1:53.01. Pitt-Bradford's second team of Hannah Westover, Brooklyn Bellavia, Ruby Smith, and Willow Sandusky picked up a crucial 30 points, finishing the relay in 16th place with a time of 2:17.45.

The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow with 7 more events. Day two will include the 200-yard medley relay, 800-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke events. Preliminary rounds will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the final rounds starting at 6:00 p.m.
