Cercone and Fedak Win Events in Panther Loss at Alfred

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team traveled to Alfred on Friday evening for a dual meet with the Saxons. The Panthers came away with a pair of event victories but lost the meet 139-52.

A pair of Panthers swimmers were able to come away with one event win and one second-place finish in the event. Bailey Fedak won the 100-yard freestyle and took 2nd in the 50, while Isabella Cercone won the 100-yard breaststroke and was runner-up in the 200-yard Individual Medley. 

Fedak won the Panthers' first event of the meet. She took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.70. She finished over 4 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. She also took second in the 50. Her time of 27.27 seconds was .89 seconds behind the winner. 

Cercone was able to win her signature event, the 100-yard breaststroke. She dominated the race, winning by more than 10 seconds. She also had a strong finish in the 200-yard IM, taking 2nd with a time of 2:33.85.

The Panthers also had two second-place finishes in the two distance events. Emma Slocum finished the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:41.27, 8 seconds off the pace. Madison Foote was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing the race in 6:39.35.

The Panthers fall to 0-2 in dual meets after the loss. They will be back in action next weekend, as they will take on Penn State-Behrend in Erie on Saturday, November 4th.
