Panthers Begin Allegheny-Empire Championships in 9th Place After Day 1

Webster, N.Y. --The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team began their trip to the Allegheny Empire Swimming Championships on Wednesday night, finishing the first day of competition in 9th place.

The Panthers had one team compete in the event opening relays as they finished in 8th place to pick up 30 points with a final time of 2:11.74. Madison Foote started the relay with a 34.86 backstroke leg. Isabella Cercone followed with a 32.06-second breaststroke leg before Bailey Fedak swam the butterfly leg in 33.21 seconds. Adriana Gallas finished the race with a 31.61-second split in the freestyle.

After day one, the Panthers are in 9th of 10 teams with 30 points. They will begin individual competition on Thursday with preliminary rounds beginning at 10:00 a.m. and final rounds commencing at 5:00 p.m.
