Panthers Compete at Penn State-Altoona Quad, Cercone wins 200-Yard Breaststroke

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team returned to the pool for the second time this week, as they took on four opponents at the Penn State-Altoona quadmeet. The Panthers were unable to come away with a win as they lost to the hosts, 167-41, Franciscan 143-51 and a nailbiter to Chatham 77-76.

Isabella Cercone had another strong performance as she picked up an event win and a 2nd place finish in solo competition, and had two strong splits in the relays. She won the 200-yard breaststroke, winning with a time of 2:44.49. She won the race by less than a second. She added a 2nd place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 27.02 seconds, finishing just .46 seconds behind the winner. In the relays she swam the breaststroke leg of the medley relay in 34.6 seconds and completed the anchor leg of the freestyle relay in 27.96, the Panthers' fastest split of the race. 

Bailey Fedak also swam in a pair of individual events and two relays. She picked up a 3rd place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:02.85 and took 4th in the 50 with a time of 28.03 seconds. She swam the butterfly leg of the medley relay in 34.24 seconds and swam a 27.86-second lead leg of the freestyle relay.

Adriana Gallas, Madison Foote, and Macy Peterson all completed 4 events, adding valuable points for the Panthers. 

The Panthers' record is now 3-10 in head-to-head competition. They will bring their regular season to an end next Saturday, as they will host Medaille in a dual meet on Senior Day. the event is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
