Women's Swimming Earns Split at Home Trimeet

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team was able to eke out a split at their home tri-meet on Saturday, picking up a 46-36 win over Wells, while falling to the overall winners from Alfred State 144-46.

The Panthers got off to a decent start as their medley relay team finished in 3rd and Adriana Gallas completed the grueling 1650-freestyle to finish in second. Her time was 25:22.13. 

After opening the meet with a strong breaststroke leg in the medley relay, Isabella Cercone continued her strong freshman campaign, with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, a 3rd place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, and the Panthers' best leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay. In the 50, she finished just .72 seconds behind the winner, posting a time of 26.81 seconds. She followed that up with another tight finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. She completed the race 3 seconds behind the winner but was just beaten to the wall by .49 seconds to miss out on another 2nd place finish. She finished her relay leg in 1:00.23 to lead the Panthers to 11 points. 

Bailey Fedak collected 13 individual points for the Panthers as she took second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.09) and 1st in the 50-yard butterfly (33.99 seconds). She also swam a strong leg in the 400-free, posting a split of 1:01.87. Madison Foote added a 5th place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (37.01 seconds) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:44.56). Macy Peterson made her season debut for the Panthers, adding 6th-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and backstroke events.

The Panthers are now 2-5 on the season and will head into their winter break. They will return to campus for a trip to Florida for a winter training camp, before returning to action in the Duke Aquatic Center on Saturday, January, 14th as they will host Roberts Wesleyan.
