Panthers Pick Up Individual Wins, Fall to Presidents

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team traveled to Washington, Pa. on Saturday to take on the Washington and Jefferson Presidents in a dual meet. The Panthers were able to pick up some individual wins but ultimately fell to the Presidents 97.5 - 57.5.

Freshman Isabella Cercone picked up three more wins as she won both breaststroke events and also successfully completed an uncontested 100-yard butterfly to pick up 27 points. She started her day with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing the race in 1:18.11. She then followed that up with another victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:53.83. Her final 9 points came in the 100-yard butterfly, which she successfully swam in 1:12.89.

Bailey Fedak swam in three freestyle events, tying for a win in the 50, taking second in the 100, and third in the 200. She began her day with the 200, posting a time of 2:18.12 to finish 14 seconds off the pace. She was then able to pick up her lone win of the day, tying a competitor with a time of 27.87 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished her day with a second-place finish in the 100. She posted a time of 1:02.60 to finish 4 seconds behind the winner.

Finally, Adrianna Gallas was able to pick up 17 points for the Panthers, taking one race in uncontested fashion and finishing in second place in two others. She began her day with the 1000-yard freestyle, where she successfully completed the race in 14:37.65. She also added two second-place finishes behind her teammate, Cercone, in the breaststroke events. She finished the 100 in 1:36.73 and the 200 in 3:31.47.

The Panthers are now 1-4 on the season following the loss. They will wrap up the Fall portion of their season on Saturday, December 3rd, when they host Wells and Alfred State. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
