Panthers Take Down Mavericks

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Women's swimming team picked up their first victory of the year on Friday evening, as they defeated Medaille 77.5 - 42.5.

The Panthers were able to win 7 of 9 individual events during the dual meet, while also picking up 11 points in an uncontested relay. They jumped ahead early as Madison Foote and Adriana Gallas picked up uncontested wins in the 1000 and 200-yard freestyle events. Bailey Fedak picked up a win in the first contested race of the match, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 28.01 seconds. Fedak was also able to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.97.

Freshman Isabella Cercone picked up two victories in her first home collegiate match. She successfully completed the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:36.23. She also had a strong victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.40 seconds, 4 seconds off of the program's best mark.

Adriana Gallas added 9 points with an uncontested win in the 500-yard freestyle and the Panthers 200-yard freestyle relay team finished the event with a successful race, finished in 2:02.14.

The Panthers are now 1-1 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, November 5th, when they host Alfred University at 5:00 p.m. in the Paul C Duke III Aquatic Center.
