Panthers Wrap-up Season at Allegheny Empire Championships

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swimming seasons came to an end on Saturday as the teams completed their fourth day at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships. The Men's team finished in 8th of 10 teams and the women's team took 9th of 10.

The men closed the event with two individual swimmers and one relay swimming in the final round. Aiden Wright got things started with the 1650-yard freestyle event. Wright finished in 20th with a time of 20:12.73. CJ Faris was next in the 200-yard backstroke. Faris finished with a time of 2:35.28, which put him in 19th place. The Panthers closed the season with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Hunter Deible, Aiden Wright, Connor Weiss, and Owen Fitzsimmons finished in 8th place with a time of 3:46.64. Deible started the race with a 56.70-second leg, while Wright followed him with a nearly identical time of 56.44 seconds. Connor Weiss swam the third leg in 1:00.08 and Owen Fitzsimmons swam the final leg with the Panthers' best time of 53.42 seconds. 

The Panthers men's team finished the event with 128 team points, which put them in 8th place. 

The women's team had 5 individual swimmers reach the finals and placed two relay teams in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Anna Killingbeck began the night for the women in the 200-yard backstroke. She took 19th place with a time of 3:05.94. Pitt-Bradford then followed this with three swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle. Bailey Fedak had the Panther's highest finish in the event with a time of 1:00.75, collecting 6 team points. Eve Brink took 19th in a time of 1:08.17 and Chloe Bellis rounded out the Panthers in the event with a time of 1:09.23. Adriana Gallas was the final individual swimmer for the Panthers, competing in the 200-yard breaststroke. Gallas finished in 18th with a time of 3:17.01, collecting 3 team points. 

Pitt-Bradford entered two teams in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Panthers' first team finished in 9th place, posting a time of 4:27.29. Eve Brink swam the opening leg in 1:09.04 and was followed by Chloe Bellis who posted a split of 1:09.47. Katie Anderton swam the third leg in 1:07.78 and Baley Fedak completed the anchor leg in 1:01.00. Pitt-Bradford's second relay finished in 18th place with a time of 4:49.75. Anna Killingbeck swam the first leg and was followed by Stephanie Carson. Macy Peterson was third for the Panthers and Adriana Gallas swam the anchor leg.

The Panthers finished the championship meet with a total of 158.5 team points, putting them in 9th place.

The Panthers season comes to a close with the completion of the championship meet. The Panthers were able to close the season with 5 dual meet victories on the men's side and 2 wins and a draw on the women's side.
