Swimmers Finish Day 3 at Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships

Webster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams completed their third day of competition at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championships as the men remained in 8th place and the women dropped into 9th.

The Panthers had 6 individual swimmers, 4 women, and 2 men, and one relay team advance to the final rounds on Friday. 

Anna Killingbeck got things started for Pitt-Bradford in the 100-yard butterfly. She took 15th place in the event, finishing the race with a time of 1:29.90. She collected six team points for the Panthers.

This was followed by two Panther swimmers who qualified for the final round in the 200-yard freestyle. Bailey Fedak took 16th place in the event, while Adriana Gallas finished two places behind her in 18th. Fedak swam the race in 2:21.99 and Gallas posted a time of 2:32.82. Feda picked up 5 team points, and Gallas aided 3.

Eve Brink was the final Pitt-Bradford women's swimmer to compete on day three. She swam in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished in 19th place with a time of 1:35.58, adding 2 team points to the Panther total.

On the men's side, Owen Fitzsimmons and Aiden Wright both swam in the 200-yard freestyle. Fitzsimmons finished in 19th with a time of 2:01.15 and Wright was just behind him in 20th at 2:04.71. They added 3 combined team points to the Panther total. 

The session came to a close with the 400-yard medley relay. The Panthers finished in 7th with a team of 4:19.95, collecting 32 team points. This was 25 seconds faster than their seed time. CJ Faris began the race with the opening backstroke leg, and was followed by Connor Weiss in the breaststroke. Hunter Deible swam the butterfly stroke for the third leg and Owen Fitzsimmons finished the race in freestyle. 

The women finish the day with 110.5 points, which drops them to 9th place. They are 52 points behind 8th place Utica, but are solidly ahead of Medaille in 10th.

The men's team remains in 8th place, with 95 team points. They are 20.5 points behind the team from Utica in 7th, and are ahead of 9th place Medaille by a large margin.

The final day of the competition will begin tomorrow at 10:00 am with the preliminary rounds of 13 events. The finals will begin at 5:00 p.m.
